Before Testing, Reset Your Wireless Connection

To help minimize any networking issues during your exam, make sure to restart your computer, or simply turn your wireless network card off and then on again, once you arrive at your testing location.

The reason why you would want to do this is that when your computer moves about campus, it will try to skip from access point to access point on its own to give you the best available connection to the internet, and during a test, it might do this at an inopportune time. Though this most likely won't ruin your test or damage your ability to have your test graded, it might cause a few moments of confusion.

Using Blackboard Journals

Blackboard Journals happens to be one of my favorite Blackboard features, but then again, I'm a bit of a minimalist. Once you see Journals the way I see Journals, I think you are really going to like this feature.

First, when you arrive at the home screen, you will find that the page is pretty sparse.  The idea here is that the focus of this page will strictly be the content of your Journal.  Once you create an entry, you will see that the entry appears on the home screen and an index of your journal entries appears on the right side of the screen.  All other information associated with the Journal will be tucked away in nice, clean compartments that you can expand to attain further information.  For example:

To see the journal including instructions, and information about the author (number of entries and number of commends), find the "About This Journal" text on the right side of the screen and click the drop down chevron.  To see comments that were made on your journal, you are going to have to expand the "Comments" double chevron.

Here is a brief Youtube tutorial about how Blackboard Journals works.
